Are you passionate about cutting-edge research at the intersection of biology, bioinformatics, and computational science? Are you eager to contribute to transformative advancements in dermatological skin care? If so, we invite you to join our team at Beiersdorf!

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research Scientist in Bioinformatics to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology, and molecular biology to drive novel research initiatives, helping us better understand skin biology and advance state-of-the-art skin care solutions.

In your role as a Research Scientist Bioinformatics, you will:

Your Tasks

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced computational approaches for analyzing high-throughput omics datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, and genomics).

  • Apply cutting-edge statistical, computational, and machine learning methods to uncover novel insights into skin biology, health, and disease mechanisms.

  • Design and conduct computational experiments in collaboration with wet-lab scientists, integrating diverse datasets to generate actionable biological hypotheses.

  • Publish and present research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to Beiersdorf’s reputation as a leader in dermatological research.

  • Ensure the robustness, reproducibility, and transparency of computational workflows while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigor and data integrity.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and computational techniques, actively applying these to ongoing and future projects.

Your Profile

  • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in Molecular Biology.

  • Expertise in analyzing and interpreting large-scale omics datasets, including transcriptomics (bulk, single-cell, and/or spatial), genomics (e.g., GWAS, ideally epistasis modeling), and proteomics.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, and experience with common bioinformatics tools and databases, such as Bioconductor.

  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning, and data visualization techniques. Familiarity with biological foundation models is a plus.

  • A proven track record of scientific excellence, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent contributions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) and UNIX/LINUX environments.

  • Outstanding communication skills, with proficiency in both German and English.
