Account Specialist

As an Account Specialist you have various roles and responsibilities all contributing to a diverse and dynamic role. As an Account Specialist you are part of our Sales department and you support the National Account Manager in achieving the short, mid and long-term Commercial objectives of the account team as agreed within the sales strategy of the country. You are a linking pin between departments Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Shopper & Customer Marketing in order to achieve the overall country objectives. 

Your Tasks

Customer contact

  • Responsible for improving Customer Satisfaction and achieving the commercial objectives of the account team at the same time;
  • Translating newly available logistical data for innovations and relaunches into information and shares this in customer-specific templates with the customer;
  • Preparing sales promotions (on- & offline) offers in cooperation with National Account Manager;
  • Proactively share information between Customer and National Account Manager;
  • A reliable and knowledgeable contact person for (Specialist) Category Manager at the Customer;
  • In collaboration with the National Account Manager & responsible for pulling customer data (such as scanning data) and make sure the provided data is ready to analyze;
  • Stay in close contact with Customer Services to proactively monitor orders and signaling mistakes regarding timings, pricing and quantities;
  • Signal chances to achieve our objectives at our customer and proactively shares them with the National Account Manager.
  • Responsible for sub-categories to gain experience and develop Account Management skills (both externally and internally)


Internal organization

  • Responsible for overall Company objectives and achieving the commercial objectives of the account team at the same time;
  • Responsible for sharing customer specific information with and proactively pulls necessary information from the Supply Chain department (Sales Planning and Customer Services) to achieve our commercial objectives. On weekly basis there is an operational account meeting planned with Customer Service and Sales Planning for alignment on these topics;
  • Responsible for sharing customer specific information with the Shopper & Customer Marketing and Category Management department on Distribution Optimization and POS materials developing account advertising & Off- and Online touchpoints with the Shopper & Customer Marketing department;
  • Responsible for sharing customer specific information with Finance department and for correct NLP in price system / putting right promotion discounts in system (planned & realized)


Additional Roles
An Account Specialist can have additional roles, such as:

  • Maintaining Promotion planning tool;
  • Supporting in developing account advertising & Off- and Online touchpoints with Shopper Customer & Marketing;
  • Supporting in developing POS material (e.g. displays, shelve material)
  • Support on various projects and priorities (e.g. Customer Category Days)
