EUCERIN

Eucerin introduces its first refill concept for jars as sustainable packaging alternative for its Hyaluron Filler Day and Night Cream. The refill concept for this anti-age bestseller requires only 8g instead of 89g of plastic. This corresponds to a plastic saving of around 90% if consumers keep the outer jar & lid and purchase just the inner jar as a refill. Potentially, this can lead to an annual saving of around 24t of plastic. Also, the folding box of the product is made of about 92% recycled paper.

AEROSOLS

From 2023/24, all deodorant cans in the European assortment of NIVEA, 8X4, Hidrofugal, and Hansaplast contain at least 50% recycled aluminum and will 11.6% less thanks to material reduction. This reduce GHG emissions in the aerosol can value chain by around 58%, which corresponds to a reduction of around 30,000 tons of GHG emissions per year.

The innovation is the result of a dedicated collaboration with leading packaging producers in the aerosol sector.

NIVEA LIP CARE

The NIVEA Lip Care assortment has been reworked intensively in 2024, leading to a reduction of 250t of GHG emissions per year. The new products have plastic-free folding boxes made from recycled and FSC-certified paper. 

The sticks are now made of fully recyclable mono material (Polypropylene | PP). In addition to the packaging and formula enhancements, production lines were optimized, and energy consumption was reduced in the production process.

Did you know?
All Labello products have been free of mineral oils since 2018. All product formulas (except UV filters) contain 99% ingredients of natural origin. The new range uses ethically sourced shea butter and implements with this another step towards the use of ecologically and socially sourced ingredients.

NIVEA SUN

Three franchises of the NIVEA Sun assortment have been optimized.

Concerning packaging, the aluminum in can and plastic in bottle are 95% recycled. The cap and the trigger contain 50% and 30% recycled plastic respectively.

By implementing these measures in the NIVEA Sun assortment, its impact on the environment can be significantly reduced while retaining the established quality of the product assortment.

The whole NIVEA Sun range has been improved in terms of eco-consciousness, as the UV filters Octinoxate and Oxybenzone have been eliminated.
